Novosti iz udruge

Upoznajte Anu – našu novu ESS volonterku! (HR/EN)

(EN) My name is Ana, I am 23 years old and this year I committed myself to become a long term volunteer here in Sibenik with the European Solidarity Corps at Mladi u EU. I come from Porto, the second largest city of Portugal. This city is known by its beautiful sites, the Port wine, the gastronomy and the welcoming spirit of its people.

Coming to Sibenik to volunteer was a decision I made in a heartbeat, quite literally. I went on the European Solidarity Corps website and, when I saw what the project was about, I immediately signed up and was pretty sure that I would come to this beautiful city.

The Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa wrote: “What do I know of what I shall be, I who do not know what I am? \Be what I think I am? But I think of so many things!”. In a similar sense I am going on that search of purpose. What made me look for an ESC project was the fact that I dropped out of university. I was doing a Law degree that I didn’t really identified with, and also because I really am out of sorts on what I want to do in the future so I applied. I see this opportunity as a way to develop myself in a deeper level, so that someday I can pass this “knowledge” to people that feel the same way.

Living here for the past week has been completely unreal for me. The city has beautiful landscapes in every direction you look, it has been really like living in paradise and not even knowing how I ended up here!

Every little thing has been conquering my heart at such a fast pace that I could be here forever!
